EDITHere is a list of all the new features that FM09 will have!

The new football season will be upon us soon and with that I think we can expect Football Manager 2009 (FM09).  I know Sports Interactive have been investing quite a bit of time in Football Manager Live (click the link to read my preview) but I think we can expect some exciting new features in Football Manager 2009 all the same.

Some of the features I would like to see would include:

  • I think it should be at least possible to win red card appeals…  Currently i never win appeals but when you look at the actual Premier League it is possible to win an appeal here or there
  • International management could be improved although i’m sure sure how just yet
  • I’d like to be able to ‘shout’ (you know what I mean) instructions during the game to specific players while they are playing
  • Greater pre/post match team talks
  • Easier to sell players and get a reasonable price
  • Maybe be able to start as a youth/reserve team manager and work your way through the ranks of the club

Well there are a few of my thoughts of some new features we could maybe see in Football Manager 2009 (FM09) and I would be really interested to hear what other people would like to see also.

Oh yeah, it’s due for release on 31/10/2008, for more info check out http://www.sega.co.uk/fm09/.

I have been reading few of these and no one put to be able to expand your stadium. coz on lma manager 07 u could always pick a stand out of about 10 and build it that would make the game more relistic. also making a player up for transfer and no one being interested but havin to pay doule what another player is to bring him to the club.

It Wud Be Awesome If U Cud Hav 3D Matches

    @TJ

Nice idea mate, would be good to see more added to the match day experience i definitely agree, even half way through your first season games can be a bit…samey. I don’t know how the licences of showing the stadiums would work, but don’t forget to consider weather, what would happen about showing the stadium during rain fog or snow. Also the ground capacity would have to be fairly consistent with the given attendance.

I like it but i think you showed yourself why this probably won’t be implemented, when you expand Old Trafford and it’s pushing 100k seats, the image is still going to look like the 70 or 80k that it currently is.

    Keep ‘em coming though!

  4. FMH Specialist says:

OK I am a fanatic and expert when it comes to FMH. I would like to see the following improvements:

    - Other Clubs Negotiate with you.
    - Better international teams
    - Varied international teams
    - Specific Player Searches
    - Real-life teams*
    - Reserve and Youth Academy squads
    - Appointing of assistant manager and upgraded scout

    * What I mean by real life teams, is that players are often not included in the game. Typical example: Bristol Rovers. Half of their first team players were not put into the game. And their best striker was put as just 14K and poor attributes – obviously Bristol is not the best team in the world but they are better than their current valuation of the world.

Here is some good tips that I’ll leave you with:

    - To get good board reaction buy 3 players in pre-season
    - Get some youth in for future development
    - When selling players, offer club value just a little bit lower and they should hit with high prices.

    Good Youngsters:

    Lulinha, Corinthians (CM) Buy £1.3m
    Bojan, Barcelona B (ST) Buy £875k (June 26, 2007)
Danny Haynes, Ipswich (ST) Buy £975k
    Ochoa, America (GK) Buy £2.5m
Eva Banega, Boca (CM) Buy £2.5m
Andy Carroll, Newcastle (ST) Buy £2.3m
    ***
Lionel Franck, Castilla (ST) Buy £150k
Inigo, Barcelona B (CM) Buy £200k
Diong Mendy, Malaga B (ST) Buy £150k

***= Players below only found when you are a team in Spain.

  5. Julen says:

You should be able to make a team and be able to play with it at the lowest playable division you have chosen in any league.

The players would be made up ones or you’d have a budget (depending on the division your team would be in) to sign enough players to be able to play.

  6. Sean says:

The idea of the ‘use your wages to buy things’ would be brilliant! They use it on FIFA Manager and it just makes the game more realistic. And you should be able to have a wife and kids, with the kids becoming future players of the club, again like FIFA Manager. The 3D gaming idea would be poor, it didn’t work with FIFA or Pro Evo Manger because its too slow.

  7. Sean says:

and also (again going back to FIFA Manager, which btw is a poor game just has a few good ideas) you should be able to see how players are doing in your Academy, like view your Under 9′s and Under 16′s so you can call up your own players form there whenever, without waiting for the end of season to get new youth from their
    Cool Site :D

  8. Pete says:

Some very good ideas all around.

I can’t rmember seeing any of the following suggestions but appologies if they have been mentioned…

    1. Like Arsene Wenger did at Arsenal when they were designing the Emirates Stadium, can we not have at least some control over new stands and the design of a new stadium?
Also, when you have a new stadium built, can we not suggest names of former players or legends of the club for the stadium to be named after? Maybe have auctions for buying the name of the stadium, like the Reebok for Bolton? Was delighted to find out Kidderminster Harriers were getting a new stadium when i got the to the premiership, but was gutted when it was just called “Kidderminster Stadium”.

    2. Retractable pitches could be used, dont know why but would be a good and realistic addition.

    3. Groundsmen as staff members. The better the groundsman the better state your picth will be in throughout the season. There could also be an option to change the playing surface…. putting lots of water down to aid a quick passing game or letting the grass grow a little longer to stop someones passing game…

    4. The clubs could hold publicity events to encourage more people to come to the stadium on match days.

    5. Fan riots. They happen all the time in Argentina so why not have them in the game? And the results could be bans, fines, playing behind closed doors etc…

    6. Things like the team trashing the plane like England before Euro 96 or players going to jail.

    7. As you progress through the game you change who your fiercest rivals are and its influenced by corrosponding league position or a hostile match in the previous game, or one country has gone to war with another away from football. haha.

    8. Not just being able to design the kits as mentioned by someone before but being able to change the colour of the away kit.

    9. Different balls. Like in the European championships where the ball was dipping and swerving a lot more, which would affect shooting.

    10. Pitch invasions!! When you have overcome te odds in the cup or in a Final, pitch invasions would be amazing.

    11. 3D replays of goals, pro evo style.

    12. The occasional on pitch rumble, like the Arsenal Man u one a few years ago. No pizza throwing though!

    13. Chairman like at Chelsea where they go over your head to sign player they want.

    14. Deaths of former players and staff/black armband matches.

    15. Proper newspaper clipings with photos and stories….maybe the possibility of keeping a scrapbook to look back on moments in your career.

    16. Physio facilities at the club to work the same way as training facilities, ranging from the magic sponge and a table to a full medical centre.

    17. Maybe a side game where you can take control of, lets say, the 1966 England team and try and repeat their feet of winning the Wolrd Cup.

Thats all i can think of at the minute and i know some of these are minor details but they would all add up to a great game along with other suggestion made on here by others.

  9. Pete says:

And about spending ur wages, how about investing money into a lower division club? Maybe become chairman. I know its unrealistic but might be a good feature.

  10. Will says:

Hahaa, yeah I wouldnt mind Joey Barton going to jail in the gamme because i hat playing against him cs he is probably one of the most overated players in the game, andd so is Alan Smith. Sega have a tough job on makingg FM09 because they will make Ronaldos stats really good ( as they should be ) but Ronaldo is injured before they an make the game so he mightn’t e as good this season as the game predicts……….

Doess anybody have any idea on when abouts the game comes out, is it September? Late Spetember??

  11. Jonathan says:

Some good points made Pete. The one I like best and seems feesable enough to include in the next FM 09 would be to be able to hire groundsmen as part of your staff and you being able to instruct them on the state of the pitch. if you were playing a team that ;like to pass such as Arsenal or Barca you could instruct your groundsman to keep grass dry and a bit longer to slow down their game. A good tactic.

    Halloween!! Aw crap

  13. Danijel says:

The idea of buying houses and cars is, in my opinion, really gay. Yes the manager salary feature in 08 was really useless but it could be put to good use. If you’re making millions at Real Madrid and then you leave for a smaller club, lets say Sturm Graz, you should have the option of using your own money to purchase a player since Sturm Graz doesn’t have a large budget. Another good feature with the manager salary would be to have the option of purchasing a smaller club. Then have the option of adjusting their kits and colours, changing the club name (shouldn’t be allowed on top clubs (ex. Man Utd) and CPU Chairmen), adjusting ticket pricing, seating arrangements, sponsorships, hire the manager you want, etc. Invest money into the club and help them climb up the ladder to the first division, then expand the stadium or build a new one. This is something that your job as a Chairman would be. Your Manager job should stay the same, that being managing the team.

The media needs to be improved a lot. Its always the same stuff, over and over again.

I’m not worried about the licensing as the FM community is huge and graphic packs will come out for most countries in the game.

  14. André says:

I agree with Danijel, whats the use of cars and houses ?:S I think that having your own club is a great ideia! it’s like in real life, if you have a nice salary personalize your club. but you could only buy a 2nd or 3rd division club so that you wouldn’t cheat so you can buy some player and train them your way. i would buy hull city :P

  15. Will says:

Would it not be kinda boring just sitting there as a chairman doing fa?

  16. Danijel says:

Wouldn’t it be more boring starring at pictures of cars and houses? Just kidding, but honestly, the job as a Chairman would be to appoint your manager. If the team is not doing so well, fire him and find a new one. The job could also be arranging ticket pricing, sponsorship deals, having an input on which players you want brought to the club, etc. This would all be on the side, because you would still have a manager job at a different club. The game is about managing a club but this “buying a club” feature would add a new thing to the game, and would make people want to progress all the way to 2015 or 2020 to have enough money in their salary to purchase a club.

  17. Will says:

Yeah, still being a manager and have more of a relationship with the chairman would be good, and i just thought FM should have the spendable wages feature after the enjoyment i got out of it from Total Club Manager. But yeah, the idea does sound really stupid but when you actually see it its not half to bad…….

Pictures of the stadiums would be good and the training ground

Training could be improved in soooooooooooo many ways – FM09 has to have more detail in the training

  18. liam says:

i think it would be cool if they included a stadium builder which included like your stadium, stadium expansion , training ground facilitys, and other things around your stadium.
also i think there should be a kit creator where you could chose your sponser and kit maker.
if you wanted to do either of those thing because ive always wanted to do things like that.
i also agree that you should be able to do something other than be manager if you want.
and what someone else hinted at like before the match be able to see the fans outside and in the stadium thing like that.

  19. Ryan says:

Hi guys. Has anyone actually forwarded their thoughts to the makers of football manager? Just wondering, as it would be good to actually have our thoughts and ideas included in the game.

  20. Niall says:

I have emailed SI a couple of times with the link to this thread and am pretty sure it’s being looked at!

  21. KyleB says:

hey guys ive spent the last hour or so reading the whole forum and there are some really good recommendations here, i really hope SI listens..
it may not be entirely helpful but i have a few things i need to get off my chest that drive me crazy with FM08 and i pray improve for the next one:
    1) the fact that appeals for red cards never EVER succeed – thats fine but just dont give me the option!
    2) when after a game where my player has been sent off and the commentary says nothing but “…its a red card for (player)” and I say it was a bad decision but apparently the TV replays always show be to be wrong – how are you meant to tell??
    3) like everyone has been saying about transfers, its stupid that you cant offload decent players for an absolute bargain, and the fact that wen you negotiate to SELL a player and ask for 1M more than they want to pay the other club cancels the deal, yet wen you negotiate to BUY they reject a bid 500K lower than they want for a total transfer of say 20M.
    4) Arsenal have never spent more than the 16M they did on Reyes, so why oh why do they always spend 45M on players?? there are way too many huge transfers.
    5) board confidences – I, like many of you i imagine, pride myself on signing young promising talent that you intend to only give say 5 games a season for first-team experience, but then your fans tell you that they think the signing is an abberation. sure if i sign a player for 20M and they’re rubbish thats fine but when i sign them for less than a million and they havent played yet cos theyre 17 i think im still justified.
    6) like someone else said, youth teams are rubbish and ive never generated anyone worthy of a first-team place – as youngsters elsewhere are significantly better
    7) sorry to rant im almost done! ALWAYS when i am leading at the end of the game by a goal or two the other team produces highlights right up until the very last minute – regardless of whether i put time wasting up to the max etc., whereas i can be man utd 1-0 down to bradford away and be all-out attack with 4 forwards on the pitch but not make one chance in the last 15 minutes – the number of times ive almost thrown my laptop out the window!!

ok sorry guys i just wanted to get that off my chest cos my girlfriend doesnt take me seriously when i kick off about FM. also there are some wicked suggestions on here like working up as a reserve/youth team manger/being able to state your happiness (i.e. be able to say you think youve done all you can at a club)/improved transfers etc, so i only hope SI intergrates some of them, good work guys

  22. Chris says:

Hey guys, i rememba playing premier manager 03/04 where it had tha interactive feature, as in u actually met the agent of the player you wanted to buy as a 3d representation, you had a choice of questions to try to convince his player to come to your club by talking about your plans for the club etc. This was a cool feature which wudnt b too hard to implement into the game, and would add a bit extra to buying players. P.s. i know premier manager suks so dont reply with comments saying how rubbish it was. lol

  23. Danijel says:

How about some of you learning how to spell English?

  24. Chris says:

Why do people waste time making petty little comments such as the very english sounding ‘danijel’ saying that people shud learn how to spell english, this is a forum to give ideas about improvements for football manager so stop wasting yours and my time wit stupid comments.

  25. Michael says:

I’ve spent ages reading all of the above and aswell as being a Football Manager Loonatic I also play Fifa Manager. Some of the ideas mentioned are also being used on Fifa such as spending wages on things and scheduling public events. Although I do agree with being able to spend your managerial earnings, but maybe only after you’ve earned a big enough reputation and to be able to use it to create another team from scratch with it.

I think we should be able to unsettle players aswell, so much infact that they ask to be transer listed but then be prepared when it happens to your own players so its a win lose situation.

More targets should definatley be introduced such as improve staff members, finish in a certain position with reserve team and make 1 side changing signing.

What about managerial levels, for every target you complete (set at start of season, different targets for different teams and levels) you get a certain amount of points, and gain levels through-out your life as a manager until retirement… where you can do what I said at the start and create your own club, be chairman and control the uncontrollable like transfer budgets for once!

How about being able to choose your own sponsors for the season? maybe stick with what it already is for the first season but from then on you can choose yourself. The offers you get can depend on where you finish in the league, what continental cup competitions your entering for the following seasons and your seasonal objectives/expectations.

  26. Danijel says:

…..or cool, if thats what you’re thinking.

  27. [...] on there, a search for FM2009 only shows a couple of fan wish lists: Here are two, the first and the second. Sports Interactive should really do something about their game, as good as it is it still needs [...]

  28. Hotshot says:

How about SI ships this game with a girlfriend that does understand the trials and tribulations that an FM manager goes through, instead of one that just rolls her eyes when you’re screaming at the screen because Jermaine Easter has scored the winner against your all-star 11 that’s just won the champions league, premiership, super cup etc etc in a damn early round cup game grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

  29. Matt672 says:

Very much liking the above hotshot comment about the girlfriend who understands what we go through! I think to be able to have more input about the way money is spent on improving the stadium and/ or the specific ways it is used to improve training facilities. Also I would like to see more when you sign new coaches etc, for example if you sign a quality goalkeeping coach i would like to see an improvment for my time, or just more intput about how that member of staff improves players, not sure what people think about this?
Finally, lol just more ways which you as a manager may be able to influence making money for the club, no specific ideas, but i think i speak for everyone when i say making and having money is good on FM.

  30. Will says:

I think it would be class if your girlfriend or wife had a huge impact on your managing.

This is also another reason why it would be class to spend wages because i think it would be so funn that when you move clubs you have to move house to a differentt area which would obviously effect your family which effects managing which effects team form. Makes the game more realistic guys!

  31. Hotshot says:

    @ Matt672

Yeah i definitely agree that more feedback on how staff are fitting in and affecting your team should be included. If i hire a new GK coach, i might see an extra star or two on GK training quality and the load might be a little less intensive, but how is HE fitting in? And how much of an impact is his training having on my team, because goalkeeper stats aren’t exactly through the roof! Also maybe he could have suggestions of new training excer…..excersi…..workouts that his groups can partake in? Rather than just a slider for high goalkeeper training or not.

Seems alot more effort could be put into training.

Also as mentioned before more individual training like raising an out of form strikers scoring if he always bottles it in the last few moments before a shot. Or better running training if your winger is always outpaced by the full back.

  32. Liam Widdows says:

I would like to help set my strikers scoring goals eg. 25 goals and they get a bonus if they meet it.
    And the selling players thing
    :)

  33. Pete says:

How about if you were manager of Birmingham City, you could fall in love with Karen Brady….it might happen.

  34. Pete says:

Or could a squirrel invade the pitch during a match like one did at Arsenal a few years ago

    SQUIRREL! SQUIRREL!

  35. srjonesthfc1882 says:

i think fm 2009 needs to have the ability to have different roles at a club, for example a coach or scout. it is possible to be a scout as you could go to different countries and watch different games and then report back to your manager about certain players.

if possible they should also allow you to type your own messages for team talks as the current dont always have what you want to say.

i totally agree with the spending of managers money as at the moment it is a pointless aspect to football manager.

i also think the managers reputation needs to be improved as i managed wycombe wanderers and got them to the championship in succesive season without spending a penny but my reputation stayed at unproven as both times i was promoted through an automatic spot but didnt win the league, if possible i think this needs to be looked at.

  36. Stephen Wilson says:

can we please update the international set up so that you can manage the likes of Northern Ireland as well as the big nations. Id love to be able to take charge of ni.

  37. Pete says:

    Stephen Wilson,

    You can be Northern Ireland!

All you do is when you go to set up a new game, go to the bottom of the page where u pick what countries leagues on and open the bit that says load all players from a country. then select northern ireland and when u get into the game u can manager them!

  38. Pete says:

I got San Marino to the World cup in 2014!

  39. Harry says:

Not sure about the red-card one, i win quite a lot of these appeals, i think that swapping to a 3d engine would be a bad idea, i quite like the 2d and 3d would just make it slow on worse computers. You should be able to control more what goes on on the actual pitch, maybe player shout out-s, shouting for a certain player to push up if you see him flagging back a little, that would be great, and team talks should be way more in depth.

  40. Matty says:

    firstly additions to the game:

“the telephone” – was used back in an old manager game by gremlin where u had a directory and called players to settle contracts and clubs for negoiating. clubs always speak to players privately, arrange pre-contracts and determine whether the player is interested. Could be like a private phone-book, and as you stature increases and reputation grows, the more “connections” you have, the cheaper deals you can negioate and so fourth.

“Player sponsership” – Superstars all have sponsership, so why not have players doing things like private functions and charity events to effect morale and confidence.

“Diva’s” – Players who think they are the dogs bollocks! have news paper articles about “beckham” being spotted out on the town at 3am after game with an unknown beauty… just add some realism to the game.

    ——

    Changes

“3D” – i dont mind the 2D image of the game, watching like circles run around isnt that bad, its a managing game, not fifa or pro evo. Though i would like to see the introduction of “cut scenes”. Dosent have to be anything fancy, just on key moments in the game, show cut scenes. for example, a sending off, just draw a picture of a referee issueing a red card to a player! or a goal, just a keeping diving with the ball hitting the back of the net.

“work permits and loans” – move to affiliate is “season long loan”. there should be the option if the player requires a work permit (ie carlos vela-arsenal) to move to affiliate that you have linked with for work permit reasons to be able to move thier for the 3-4 years until they can be nationlised.

“Transfer market” – Selling players is far to difficult. cant give players away half the time, and if someone is interesed in my players, its hard to get 4 or 5 mill more then the player value. on the other hand, buying players and being charged 5-6 times more then there value is ridiculous. Also, reserves players, players not wanted by the club are always going to be looking for any avenue out to get first team football again. So why are they never willing to take pay cuts for regular football and the same standard (ie boa morte for west ham!! 40,000 a week my ass!!)

“Staff Interaction” – Personal meetings with the board or chairman. Set future plans. Like arrange a 3-4 year long term plan. for example – if i can ensure the club finishes top half next season, you promise me 30mill for us to push for europe. Or, your a mid-table team (Newcastle, City) and at x-mas your sitting top 4, you should be able to go to the board and ask for more cash to add players to keep the team pressing for europe because the money will be recouped through payouts for league position and european qualification. if not, i just dont get a budget at the start of next season.

    —–

    Manager wages

Enjoyed the idea of managerial wages being able to be spent on things. Virtual objects is more exciting then virtual money, and it should determine your “character” in the game. If i buy expensive cars and yachts, then it can be reflected in news papers and interviews… just add another edge to the game (ie Sir Alex owns horses)… add a private life that can affect the team.
Also, another thought on this. I play for quite a long time, into 2020 and beyond so ive made a fair bit of cash by then. Why not introduce “Club takeovers”. Allow me to buy a low level club and become chairman/manager! wont differ to much from normal manager mode, except i use my own cash to fund transfer budgets and everyday expenses while trying to progress the team and make a profit. (this is were spending personal wages on virtual objects could become exciting. if the club begins to go down hill you can sell your cars and yachts for example) just little things that add a massive amount to the game.

as you can see there is alot i would like added to the game, i can think of 100′s more but im getting sick of typing lol, these are just a few suggestions.

  41. fmLEGEND says:

FM IS THE BEST GAME EVER

  42. Jonathan says:

    @ Matty

““work permits and loans” – move to affiliate is “season long loan”. there should be the option if the player requires a work permit (ie carlos vela-arsenal) to move to affiliate that you have linked with for work permit reasons to be able to move thier for the 3-4 years until they can be nationlised.”

You can already do this. I Usually link up with some beligium team and if a player im buying has been turned down for a work permit you can still buy him and move him onto one of your affliated clubs

  43. Will C says:

Players should be able to have arguements etc with other players/clubs!
Look at recent Premier League events, John Terry (LAD) slating Alex Ferguson about Man U reaching their peek blah blah blah…. that would be EPIC, then you can reward players for doing it or fine them two weeks wages or whatever! somewhat amusing i think!!

Love to be able to win “issuing an ultimatum”… been chelsea manager for 19 years , only lost 1 premier league title, asked for the stadium and issued an ultimatum and they fired me! stupid wa**ers…. bit ridiculous??

I like the idea of new shirt sponsors…. think manager should have more of a input into the behind the scenes running of the club! like, ticket prices, sponsorship etc! would be cool if not a little confusing?

    Just some ideas??

  44. srjonesthfc1882 says:

if possible they should generate new kits for teams after a couple of seasons, for example im barcelona and ive had the same kit for the last 10 seasons.

i agree with what people have said about it needing to be easier to buy and sell players. i was chelsea and did the nationalist challenge so i had to sell drogba, so i transfer listed him and asked for only 2mill and still nobody wanted him, you just know that if any club was offered 2mill to buy drogba they would agree. also i try and sign mario balotelli all the time (hes class) and hes worth 1.7 yet inter milan always want at least 13-15mill come on be realistic.

one thing i love that they need to keep is that the hall of fame remembers your best season so everytime i start a new season my barcelona season is always at the top.

finally i think they to make it easier to get a league team as your feeder club. i know you get the option of selecting nation loan when youve been there long enough but when you first start if you ask for a feeder club you always seem to get an irish team and i dont load up the irish league (coz its rubbish)

  45. Lil Ez says:

Some of u guys have come out with some really good ideas but Football Manager are not near that level. The Assistant Manager is a serious problem which needs to be sorted out. U should be allowed 2 sell players more easily. Red card is a problem u never win an appeal it should be at least 1 in 100 2 make it more realalistic. the game should get rid of the stuiped transfer fees 2 buy players e.g. after 2 season players are being sold 2 the higest bidder that is wrong

Here are a few of my points in how Football Manager could be improved u might love them or hate them give some feedback though.

    1) Transfers system needs 2 be sorted out. and made more realistic .All u have 2 do is look back at this transfer window and see how many transfer were straight forward as one club makes a bid e.g arsenal for a player e.g nasri. Marsielle turn it down. or even accept then u can offer a contract then the player joins the club. Not every transfer works like that. Clubs do allow other clubs 2 talk 2 the player first the negoigate a transfer fee.

    2) Agents what has happened 2 them. i would like 2 see agents as actual people in the game. It would make football manager alot more intresting. e.g a big/ rising player in a smaller league agent approaches u. he shows u footage of the player then u decide wether u want him or not. ( this is a shortend version of my point i will post the full at a later date)

    3) Youth System needs 2 change.
First of all i would like 2 see teams with proper youth acdaemys.
this would envole having and under 16 side. therefore increasing the roaster availble 2 teams.
so e.g. Arsenal would then have a first team, reserves, under 18 and under 16 team options. making the game more realstic.

Proper youth tournments e.g club under 20s international, under 16s,17s and 18s youth internaltional tournaments like in real life. and the would make it easier 2 idenfy potenial stars for the future. E.g cesc was spotted in and world under 17 international playing for spain now he is a star player

I think the game should have your sunday league teams in. this could enable teams e’g Man U 2 find young players and poach them 2 your youth teams.
Basicly at thed of the season u hve 2 fill ur own Youth teams.

Its realistic if a team asks for way more than a players worth when he is a hot prospect.

If Inter want 13 million for Balotelli when hes worth 2 million, i can understand, it would be more stupid if you got him for under about 10 million. Alot of clubs dont sell future stars for cheap

  47. krissyrobbo says:

i think the youth teams and academy set up is fine the way it is. What i want to see is consistency. I have had games with Man U, Arsenal and Rangers where my scouts are great for finding potential abiity and they go all over the world scouting. My academys and training facilities are world class and every season my youth team squad is shit!!

Ive even checked the pontential rating usin genie scout to make sure its not my training etc. But its not they all average potential ability 100-110. ocassionally u will get somone at 150 or so but even that is crap if u are man u. Then i have to revert to going to other clubs and “stealling” their talented youngsters. this needs to be sorted.

    PS

Whoever was asking to be able to controll food prices and corporate boxes needs their head checked. This is called Football Manager……Not General Manager!

  48. Lil Ez says:

krissyrobbo i disagree with u with the lack of youth talent at arsenal. if u look at the number of under 18s at the club u would be shocked. traore becomes one of the best leftbacks in the world, nancer barazite the new berchamp/rosicky, henri, jack wilkshire, pedro, vela, karl bartely, norvetert. all become world class players.

  49. Will C says:

Agree with Lil Ez, Arsenal youth talent… all get quality, but in reality they wont get that good!!
Walcott is a PRIME example, at the moment in real life he is quality but im Football manager he never gets good!! CRAZY STUFF right there….
Chelsea youth need to be improved as well actually!! Gael Kakuta is AMAZING in real life but still FM doesnt give him justice!

On the Balotelli arguement: he was wanted by loads of top clubs in reality, Inter wanted £9mill for him, so thats not a very unrealistic in FM.
But on the other hand, tryin to sell players is a bitch in some cases!! tried to sell Carvalho cos he is old, offered £4 mill, you would take that normally! but nope! nobody wanted it? WEIRD!

    Loving this debate boys!
Most of the points I’d like to make have already been discussed but I’d like to see more in-depth interaction with the media and the board/chairman.
Also, I’d really really like to see something along the lines of in-depth analysis of individual player performances, like involved in the team talks and that.
And, a much better/revamped training system would go down a treat as well!

On the subject of spending wages and behind-the-scenes involvement TCM-style :- NO. PLEASE GOD NO!
I played that game and it was p**s poor to say the least!
Why tarnish such an amzing series?!
