Football Manager 2011 Suggestions

While there is nothing official to say that there will be a Football Manager 2011 I’m going to speculate and say that there probably will be a new Football Manager game so with that in mind what would you like to see in Football Manager 2011?

We have done this in the past and a number of peoples suggestions have been worked into the game so SI do react to what fans of the games want to see.

I’ll get the ball rolling:

  • Easy one but given the fact that Germany are wrecking havoc at the World Cup i think the licence for national team of Germany is a must (probably easier said than done.)
  • More detailed interaction with the board would be good. A end of season review with them would be cool, explain what you want for the coming season, transfer targets etc
  • Ability to buy youngsters and loan them back to their club for a season or two. saves them rotting away in the reserves.
  • Maybe the ability to create custom set pieces or at least mix them up a bit more.

Anyway, what do you guys want to see in the next version of the game?

every team must have their squad complete fro the 1st team until the under 16's…….. realistic transfers, budgets, all countries are playable, player faces added, skins given 4 free, stadium editing, shirt can be changed every season, sponsors every yearly…..

  8. Alessio Reply

I always waited year by year for the transfer budgets of the team to be Real..It's never been done so far..In FM2010 Real Madrid for example has a 10mil transfer budget..How is that possible!? Just have a look at the money they spent on transfers in real life..The transfer budgets should be REAL for all the teams in the game..Every year i haven't seen this beeing done so maybe in FM2011 would be a chance to play a more realistic game? I definitely say this issue with transfer budgets to be fixed and brought to day2day life!!Thanks and i hope it will be done and i think everybody thinks this way!!

I've reviewed all the comments on the forum and there are some great ideas and some terrible ideas. I like the ideas regarding having a bigger say in improving training, facilities and income/expenditure. I also like the ideas regarding getting updates from reserve and youth team managers. There are also good ideas surrounding contract negotiations and player interaction.

Someone also mentioned the managers wage. I think this should contribute to your Hall of Fame ranking. The Hall of Fame needs revamping. I took Mansfield Town from the Conference to the Championship before moving on to a bigger club, but there's absolutely no recognition given. To me, that's as big an acheivement as Liverpool or Man Utd winning the European Cup. Look at a manager like John Stihl at Dagenham & Redbridge. The man has worked absoloute wonders to get them into League One. That is a massive acheivement and needs to be recognised and respected, just like Roy Hodgson has for getting Fulham to the Europa League Final last season. It's not always about winning silverware.

I definitely agree with the press conference and team talks being reviewed. There could do with being a lot more responses as after a while you just let your assistant manager handle the chat as it gets repetative.

I also think that you should be able to manage any team or nation in Europe without the database being so large that the game grinds to a halt.

I agree with the need for faces and real badges. It is a faff downloading them. I also think there should be the option to build the stadia… choose from styles of stand, refreshments, dug outs chairs etc. Like they do in Fifa Manager. It would give a more complete sense of club management. You could liaise with the merchandising manager to suggest what he should sell in the store too.

  16. jordan Reply

make all the teams have the real badges for example ( all the english league ) , an all the players have photos etc

  17. Liam Reply

A testimonial match option for a long-serving player would be a nice touch.

Perhaps the option to delete leagues mid-game would help the game run more smoothly for the user. For example, once you've got Bradford to the Premier League, it would be good to disable League 1, League 2 and JPT. Adding leagues might be problematic I guess.

Hi folks, here are some stuffs I'd like to see in the game.

    ==> Develop the youth interface

    * Be able to set up a youth program

    * Get the chance to start your career as a youth team Manager.

    * Organise Youth international tournaments (Like they're existing in the real world – see website above)

    * youth academies should be more detailed as well as training ground facilities.

==> Develop the commercial aspects (even if it's not the Manager's task)

    Enjoy

    ;-)

Do you think that the manager can make an event in which a delegation of supporters can talk with him an with the chairman of the club is a good idea??I believe that this event is very helpfull an can make fans and team to be one. Also maybe the players perfomance depended on fans performance…Generaly fans and team must be come closer

  21. Lewis Reply

The biggest thing for me in the game is the youth system. I LOVE to bring youth players through and watch the develop.

So i think this should be more interactive, maybe make it so that the youth player's parents and families can be interacted with and the youth player can recommend a personal friend to have a trial at the club if he is asked to.

I would also like to see different camps across the world for youth development for each individual team. I remember on Total Club Manager 2004 you could invest in different camps in different continents and draft players in from there. The current system where you just get given 16 or 17 local lads is not very good.

  22. Phil Reply

It would be good if you could use your wages to do something like; invest in the stadium or youth facilities ect ect.

  23. Adam Reply

Jimi Lawson – totally agree, hope to see it in the game!

  24. Winno Reply

i would like to play as a sporting director and buy players for the club and have more interaction with the players so i could pursuade them to join the club.

i would also like to talk to the board more and ask or explain decisions to them.

i agree with more excitment on transfer deadline day aswel.

you shud also be able to talk to the media more aswel, things like being a pundit at a world cup also to increase ur repp, and maybe sum miss quotes.

when buyin players there shud be more options like loaning back to clubs and clubs exchanging players more.

  25. Dean Reply

take away the value of players and let you judge what you think a player is worth……
if you try to sign a player make other teams who that player would realistically attract show interest and make it harder to sign them……. for example edin dzeko on fm2010 you could sign him for most decent teams but in real world if you was everton nd tried to sign him ac milan man city chelsea man utd real madrid would all come in and you would have no chance…… plus dont tell you what the player wants in wages because if someone wants 30k a week and a few teams are in i know if i pay 50k he will sign for me plus dont allow you make say whoever you sign is indespensible only maybe 2/3 players per team beacause that is more realistic if you have 3 indespensible players and you want to make a signing that is indespensible you have to tell 1 of the 3 that they are now just a team player or squad member and this should then unsettle that player.

  26. Dendy Reply

more intense world class transfer possibilities will be awesome. take a look at ‘war’ for Ribery and Cesc. Who can deny those transfer is most watched summer transfer? in addition, the player can release a press conference or controversial act..like Berbatov sign the United jersey, or Cesc being worn Barcelona jersey. not only ‘wants to move to a bigger club’.

  27. ImageHoster.Info Reply

I think they should make it easier for Australian clubs to buy players from over seas and more so make it easier for overseas clubs to buy Aussie players.

  28. fmjonny Reply

I find it annoying how you can only have one language for yourself when in reality I personally can speak french as well. So when i sign a good french player it just assumes as i am english nationality i can only speak english meaning there are “language issues” and other players need to help out.

Realistic tranfers fee’s is a must in the game. You must pay insane prices for players. El Hamdaoui (AZ) goes maybe now to Ajax for 5 million, that would never happen in FM. And a club like Feyenoord has lots of depts. It would be cool if you have to sell players in the begging of a game, and that the chairmen gives more advices and stuff.

  31. Jimi Lawson Reply

I would like teams to have expectations on tactics used. Mourinho lost his job at chelsea (even though he did well) because his team played conservatively. Going to Barcelona and playing a long ball game should result in fans groups and even the board calling for your resignation even if you do perform a clean sweep of trophies. This could even have an effect on jobs you take or players being more receptive to moves. If your playing style doesn’t match the one expected from the club you face a dilemma – learn to play as expected or start the job with the press and fans waiting for you to fail, Dungas Brazil for example and hoping you can persuade them (maybe even change the playing mentality of the team aswell).

Likewise I would like my manager to gain comparable stats to other managers. Winning leagues is great but imagine comparing your stats with Wenger and finding you are better at nurturing youngsters or are more capable of forcing a Kevin Keegan rant with your mind games than Ferguson. Again I’d like this to have a wide effect on the game; such as “working with youngsters” having a direct influence on the quality/quantity of players you recieve in your youth team.

Lastly I’d like more interaction between my manager and backroom staff. I’d appreciate say a monthly report from both my reserve and youth team managers detailing who’s done well (maybe even include stats for month) and any recommendations e.g. moving that youngster into the reserves for more experience or releasing that injury prone dm in your reserves because he’s always injured.

All of this I think would add to the realism and feelings of achievement available in the game. I’d be hugely surprised to see these in the game but…. but I tell you honestly I’d love it if they are, just love it!

player’s experience! make it more important like in real life where old heads are useful in big games. the current game is like a cycle.. player gets old so you sell/release them n buy younger one..

  36. Akkablunose Reply

Also it’d be cool if i could edit my own set piece and fine tune it on the training ground, actually watch the lads train and go through the set-piece and go through it if they had messed up or tell them yes thats it.

  37. Akkablunose Reply

I want to see an improvement on training, if, for instance, my winger is not crossing the ball accuratly and i worked on it in training i’d like to see an improvement in the following weeks. i’d also like in the weeks where i have no game to be able to watch a match from where i like to scout my own targets.
would like to have the choice to watch the reserve matches aswell incase i’m missing a player whos turning in performances, i could promote him to the first team if i like what im seeing.

to all you people on this forum website. the real thing that football manger 2011 needs is :

    * A REAL TRANSFER LIST WITH GOOD REASONABLE PLAYERS

    * MAKE THE GAME HARDER !

    * REALISTIC TRANSFER PRICES AND THE TOP TEAMS BUY GOOD PLAYERS INSTEAD OF YOUNG PLAYERS

    * IF YOU GET RELEGATED YOU CAN GET THERE PLAYERS FOR CHEAPER JUST LIKE THE REAL FOOTBALL WORLD

    * REALISTIC TRANSFER BUDGETS ( I AM BOLTON ON MY FM 10 AND REALISTICALLY 30 MILLION WOULD NOT HAPPEN FOR FINISHING 12TH)

    * IF YOU GET PROMOTED ON THE GAME YOU SHOULD GET 90 MILLION JUST LIKE THE REAL TEAMS SUCH AS BLACKPOOL FOR MAKING THE PREMIER LEAGUE !!!

    * JESUS NAVAS FROM SERVILE WOULD NEVER EVER COST 100 MILLION ! DAVID villa WOULD NOT COST 150 MILLION. IN THE REAL WORLD HE WENT TO BARCA FOR 30 MILLION

    * I HOPE FOOTBALL MANAGER LOOK AT THIS POST AND ACTUALLY MAKE THE GAME REAL INSTEAD OF THE SAME OLD BORING TRANSFERS

  44. Cameron Reply

I think that when buying players the transfers fee’s should be a bit more realistic. To get a good quality but not world class player it costs around 30 Million each time.

  45. Adam Reply

I like the idea of being able to search for players by their minimum fee release clause, would ake thinks easier.

I dont think using money for cars etc is a good idea, but this side of the game should be improved somehow. What is the point in negotiating your contract for a higher wage which you can do and i do often, but its for nothing, other than lowering the total amount of wage funds you have for incoming players etc. It doesnt make sense.

  46. chris Reply

it would be a good idea if you could search for wonderkids and ask your scout to find wonderkids etc, also search the transfer market by minimum release fee.

  47. chris Reply

i would like to see the stadium side of the game being improved, ie if you have loads of money you should be given the option of building a new stadium or upgrading your existing stadium, and other clubs on the game upgrading there stadium, whats the point seeing a little club from the lower leagues make it to the top flight if they still have a 7000 capacity stadium, there should be news updates on this ie if you are liverpool then you should get news like fulham have decided to build a new 35000 all seater stadium or newcastle increase there capacity to 70000 etc, plus the club should anounce ticket prices and season ticket prices etc.

  48. xhazzer Reply

i think they need you to be able to speak to abramavich and the individual members of board like chief executive. so you can ask for a marquee signing and ask what the clubs plans are for stadium and training ground upgrades. Also i think the money you earn in wages you should be able to buy cars and a house and then maybe even buy the club and take over the club. Or you should become a member of the board and should have ,ore of a say of what goes on at the club the longer you are the.A better 3d view is required along with more interaction with players. eg. allowing ur squad members to persuade someone to sign for your club

  49. GAZATIM83 Reply

I’d like to be able to start as a youth or reserve coach at a club and earn your ability as a manager maybe take over the reigns at that club or go somewhere else if your not cutting it.

  50. Nathan.Chapman.FM Vet Reply

I would like to see a lot more excitement on transfer deadlines day and throughout the summer transfer window. Think how often people are glued to the tv or gossip columns for supposed transfers. Alot more gossip for transfers and excitment is needed!!

Also, I would like to see a lot more optional clauses for player contracts. I always here of pay as you play deals for older players, or things like players having the option of a further year if they appear in x amount of games over the season.

Make it you can watch a hole game. It does get boring if its a goalless draw with hardly any attacks. You watch a screen. So that would be good.

And if you pick an English league then you want to move club. You can only pick English teams. It would be good if you could go to another country.

Make the champions cup nd the euro cup harder. In won it with Blackpool nd that was selling all the good players.

It would be good if you could manage teams that are like the junior leagues but obviously not actual young leagues if you know what I mean. It would also be good if you could enter a clubs pro youth squad.

The press conferences need to be freshened up with new questions – 09 and 10 basically had exactly the same questions so it gets a bit boring answering the same old questions with the predictably 'right' answers.
